Meet Brandy, My Chatbot Assistant!
For the past couple of weeks, I have been playing around with IBM Watson Assistant between job hunting, interviewing, and learning python. For those of you who don't know, Watson Assistant is a program by IBM that allows individuals to create incredible chatbot assistants.
Then I got to thinking, what would it look like to make a chatbot that I could send to recruiters. Because when I hear that recruiters only spend 6 seconds looking at a resume, the first thing that pops to mind is not nearly enough time. Second, those resumes must be incredibly dull if they only hold a recruiter's attention for 6 seconds. The chatbot would have a 2-fold purpose, 1st it would demonstrate my interest in AI since most of the companies I am applying to are in the Ai field. 2nd if they spent more than six seconds being amused by the cleverness of the chatbot, then that was six seconds longer than my competition was getting. #SmallWins
So far, everyone I have sent the chatbot to has loved it, which is great! But more than anything, I started this project to get hands-on experience working with Watson Assistant and open my mind up to what is possible with this technology. So as a few examples, here are some brain ideas that you could do with Watson Assistant.
1. Everyday internal support teams and managers spend hours answering basic, repeated asked, and simple questions such as: "Where is database X" and "How do I add a new hire to my team." So why not program Watson to read these emails and respond if it knows the answer. I figure you could save every manager just 1-hour a day answering pointless emails; the company would save $11,250+ per manager a year. The time saved would amount to millions of dollars in savings for some companies, and the best part about Watson is that the longer Watson sticks around, the more It would learn, and the more your employees could go back working value add projects.
2. I know individuals that have to manage hundreds of personal emails. You could use Watson Assistant to auto responded to some of these emails, categorizing others based on priority or subject. Having an Ai auto sorting your emails would make it easier for you to work through your emails. Instead of jumping around your emails, you can work on just approval request emails or confirm or deny your meeting requests. Too many people have monster inboxes, and if I could save you 30 minutes to 1-hour answering emails, it would be worth paying a monthly subscription.
